A pattern with a thousand years of history. The Mimbreno designs are drawn from the pottery of the ancient Mimbres people, who lived in the river valleys of southwestern New Mexico from roughly 1000 to 1130 CE. Their black-on-white ceramic art is among the most celebrated in the prehistoric American Southwest.
Designed by Mary Colter for the Fred Harvey Company. In 1937, architect and designer Mary Colter commissioned the Mimbreno pattern for the dining cars of the Santa Fe Railway's Super Chief, the luxury passenger train between Chicago and Los Angeles. The pattern ran on that train for 34 years.
The original colorway. The maroon and white colorway is the closest reproduction of the 1937 original, which featured brick red motifs on an ivory body. This is the colorway Colter chose, drawn directly from the palette of ancient Mimbres pottery.
Handcrafted in Tucson, Arizona. HF Coors is the authorized manufacturer of Mimbreno reproductions. Every piece is made in Tucson from American clay by craftspeople who have been doing this since 1925. Start to finish, in the USA.
Restaurant-grade durability. Vitrified ceramic construction resists chips, fading, and staining. Lead-free, dishwasher safe, microwave safe, oven and broiler safe, and freezer safe.

The Mimbreno turkey mug in maroon and white is a 15-ounce ceramic mug in the original 1937 colorway. The turkey was both a practical and ceremonial animal for the Mimbres people. Depicted in the bold geometric style of Mimbres ceramic art, the turkey motif captures the bird with the characteristic fanned tail and patterned body that make it immediately identifiable. At 15 ounces, the mug gives the motif full room to read. The maroon and white palette is drawn from the brick red and ivory of ancient Mimbres pottery, the original palette Mary Colter chose for the Fred Harvey Company's Super Chief dining cars. Vitrified ceramic, restaurant-grade, handcrafted in Tucson by HF Coors.
