A pattern with a thousand years of history. The Mimbreno designs are drawn from the pottery of the ancient Mimbres people, who lived in the river valleys of southwestern New Mexico from roughly 1000 to 1130 CE. Their black-on-white ceramic art is among the most celebrated in the prehistoric American Southwest.
Designed by Mary Colter for the Fred Harvey Company. In 1937, architect and designer Mary Colter commissioned the Mimbreno pattern for the dining cars of the Santa Fe Railway's Super Chief, the luxury passenger train between Chicago and Los Angeles. The pattern ran on that train for 34 years.
The original colorway. The maroon and white colorway is the closest reproduction of the 1937 original, which featured brick red motifs on an ivory body. This is the colorway Colter chose, drawn directly from the palette of ancient Mimbres pottery.
Handcrafted in Tucson, Arizona. HF Coors is the authorized manufacturer of Mimbreno reproductions. Every piece is made in Tucson from American clay by craftspeople who have been doing this since 1925. Start to finish, in the USA.
Restaurant-grade durability. Vitrified ceramic construction resists chips, fading, and staining. Lead-free, dishwasher safe, microwave safe, oven and broiler safe, and freezer safe.

The Mimbreno rimmed soup bowl in maroon and white is the original colorway in a format that gives the pattern full expression. The wide rim carries the Mimbres motifs at a scale that reads clearly from across the table. The maroon and white palette is the one Mary Colter chose for the Fred Harvey Company's Super Chief dining cars in 1937, and it remains the most faithful reproduction of the original ancient Mimbres palette. All aboard for the Super Chief!

Fantastic reproduction of the superb China used upon the Santa Fe’s crack, streamliner the Super Chief. I only complete said and they did a magnificent job with each piece. I highly recommend this wonderful Pattern to add a touch of class to each table it is placed on.
