The Mimbreno oval serving platter in maroon and white features the four fish motif in the original 1937 colorway. The four fish motif is one of the most recognized compositions in the Mimbres tradition, four fish arranged in a radial pattern that fills the interior of a bowl. The design is both decorative and structural, using the circular form of the vessel as part of the composition. The maroon and white palette is the one Mary Colter chose for the Fred Harvey Company's Super Chief dining cars, drawn directly from the palette of ancient Mimbres pottery. At platter scale, the motif reads with the full presence of the Mimbres tradition. Vitrified ceramic, restaurant-grade, handcrafted in Tucson by HF Coors.
Carefully crafted, kiln-fired, and artisan crafted at our Tucson, Arizona facility.
