A pattern with a thousand years of history. The Mimbreno designs are drawn from the pottery of the ancient Mimbres people, who lived in the river valleys of southwestern New Mexico from roughly 1000 to 1130 CE. Their black-on-white ceramic art is among the most celebrated in the prehistoric American Southwest.
Designed by Mary Colter for the Fred Harvey Company. In 1937, architect and designer Mary Colter commissioned the Mimbreno pattern for the dining cars of the Santa Fe Railway's Super Chief, the luxury passenger train between Chicago and Los Angeles. The pattern ran on that train for 34 years.
The original colorway. The maroon and white colorway is the closest reproduction of the 1937 original, which featured brick red motifs on an ivory body. This is the colorway Colter chose, drawn directly from the palette of ancient Mimbres pottery.
Handcrafted in Tucson, Arizona. HF Coors is the authorized manufacturer of Mimbreno reproductions. Every piece is made in Tucson from American clay by craftspeople who have been doing this since 1925. Start to finish, in the USA.
Restaurant-grade durability. Vitrified ceramic construction resists chips, fading, and staining. Lead-free, dishwasher safe, microwave safe, oven and broiler safe, and freezer safe.

The Mimbreno salad plate in maroon and white is the 7.5-inch companion to the full dinner service. The maroon and white colorway is the original, chosen by Mary Colter when she designed the Mimbreno pattern for the Fred Harvey Company's Super Chief dining cars in 1937. The brick red motifs on an ivory body are drawn directly from the palette of ancient Mimbres pottery, and they look as considered today as they did in those dining cars.
